At once a feature-length film, soundtrack, sunscreen, a high school outreach program, collection of related artworks, and this book, SPF-18, Alex Israel’s multifaceted and expansive project challenges traditional definitions surrounding art, entertainment, and teen culture. In partnership with high schools across the country, SPF-18 creates an ecosystem of social storytelling, digital content, and physical experiences to bring the world and lessons of the project to life. This book features not only SPF-18’s entire screenplay, but extensive on-set photography and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. (The Broad, Via Art, some additions/subtractions by me)
