In Triosophia, PAUL CHAN (b. 1973, Hong Kong) explores how moving images can be experienced in three dimensions. From the Breathers series, Triosophia features three billowing figures powered by industrial grade fans. The perpetual movement of the three figures resembles people pushing and pulling one another. Paul Chan addresses the issue of artists depicting movement through sculpture, a form usually considered static and permanent.
Paul Chan's kinetic art combines and expands the traditionally disparate categories of sculpture and moving image. Along with kinetic art, he is known for single-channel videos, projections, and multimedia projects that draw inspiration from popular culture, philosophy, and historical narratives.
