Monika Baer has won the 2021 Hans Platschek Prize for Art and Writing. The award ceremony took place on September 8, 2021, at Kunstverein in Hamburg, Germany.

The Hans Platschek Foundation, founded in 2005 by attorney Kurt Groenewold in Hamburg, commemorates the life of the painter and author Hans Platschek. The foundation has awarded the Hans Platschek Prize for Art and Writing every year since 2008 as part of Art Karlsruhe. The winner is selected by a sole juror, who in turn is nominated by the board of directors. This year's juror was Christina Végh, the current director of the Kunsthalle Bielefeld.

Previous winners of the Hans Platschek Prize include Jonathan Meese, Monica Bonvicini, Michael Kunze, and Helga Schmidhuber.
