FROM THE ARCHIVE | RACHEL HARRISON

THE HELP, A COMPANION GUIDE

May 14, 2020

Published as an e-book in 2012 by Badlands Unlimited, Rachel Harrison's The Help, A Companion Guide uses the artist's documentation and research to generate a visual compendium to The Help, her solo exhibition that same year at Greene Naftali. The exhibition's title shares its name with Harrison's photograph of the back door maintenance entrance to Marcel Duchamp’s Étant donnés: 1° la chute d'eau, 2° le gaz d'éclairage . . . (Given: 1. The Waterfall, 2. The Illuminating Gas . . . ) (1946–66) at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
